About Amferia

A short introduction to Amferia as presented at Brilliant Minds 2019, Stockholm

Amferia AB is a Swedish med-tech company founded in 2018 and is located in Mölndal, Sweden (close to the city of Gothenburg). Amferia’s proprietary technology is a result of several years of research and is patent protected. Our team consists of inventors, entrepreneurs, clinicians and visionaries.

ANAND KUMAR RAJASEKHARAN

CEO & Co-founder

Anand is a scientist and entrepreneur who is driven to bring new life-science technologies for improving human and animal health. Anand holds a PhD in Materials Science from Chalmers University of Technology and is one of the inventors of the material platform serving Amferia’s healthcare technology. Anand holds three patents and has published in high impact scientific journals such as Advanced Materials and Nature Communications.

Sales Director & Co-founder

Saba is a passionate entrepreneur and scientist and one of the inventors behind Amferia’s technology. She holds a PhD. in Materials Science from Chalmers University and her PhD thesis describes the antimicrobial platform of Amferia’s technology. Saba has published her work in high impact scientific journals such as Acta Biomaterialia and has in-depth knowledge on the IP sector of the technology. Today, she leads the business development in human health and establishing sales together with distributors for the animal health market.

MARTIN ANDERSSON

Research Director & Co-founder

An entrepreneur and academic with long experience, Martin’s vision is to bring innovative medical technology to positively impact human lives. Martin is Professor of Materials Science at Chalmers University and Chairman of Amferia AB. Martin has over 10 years’ experience in medical device research and antibacterial materials with nearly 100 scientific publications in prestigious journals such as Nature Communications, Advanced Materials and Nano Letters. He has also previously started-up a biomaterials company for bone and dental implants with successful implementation of products into the market and in patients. Martin has strong background with strategies for regulatory filing, IP, scale-up and marketing and he possesses expert knowledge on fundamental science and prototyping work for device development.

ANNIJA STEPULANE

Research Engineer

Annija is a materials chemist adept at biomedical research through design and evaluation of new, medically relevant materials.  Annija holds a MSc. in Materials Chemistry and currently is pursuing a PhD in Material Science at Chalmers University of Technology. Annija has a strong background in biomaterial science and technology covering various material classes and functionalities. At Amferia she handles material testing and biological evaluation along with new technology progression, facilitating Amferia’s core product development.

EDVIN BLOMSTRAND

EDVIN BLOMSTRAND

Research Engineer

Edvin is a highly-skilled bioengineer who is an expert in material design and antimicrobial technology and cell-material assessment. Edvin has a Licentiate degree in Materials Science from Chalmers University of Technology and currently pusuing his PhD at Chalmers. At Amferia, Edvin drives the product design and device optimization for wound care. Edvin has strong experience working with some of the most dangerous resistant bacterial strains.

ROJAN MODARESI

Product Manager - Animal Health

Rojan is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and holds PhD in microbiology from Urmia University in Iran. Rojan brings a strong interdisciplinary expertise of veterinary clinical care and hands-on microbiology knowledge, enabling Amferia to build and strengthen its veterinary product portfolio. Today Rojan is responsible for Amferia’s wound care products for veterinary care and works at the interface between product development and customer interaction at veterinary clinics across Europe.

DANIEL HAGBERG

CTO

Daniel holds a PhD in Materials Science from the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden and has 10 years experience in product development and production from working in the speciality chemicals and healthcare industry. Daniel brings a strong knowledge and expertise for building Amferia’s technology platform into a mature product while enabling a high quality production system. As CTO, Daniel is responsible for leading the R&D, Product Development and scaling up of production of the wound products of Amferia.

Board Members

Louise Warme

Louise is Investment Manager at Almi Invest, a licensed physician and is a founder of several life-science companies. She also has experience from preclinical and epidemiological research from the Swedish Medical Association. Previously, she worked at Aquilion (formerly PULS Invest), and as CEO of a medical technology company.

Martin Andersson

Martin is presently the Chairman of Amferia. Martin is a Professor in Materials Science at Chalmers University and a serial entrepreneur who has started several med-tech and deep-tech companies with successful launch of products from lab-to-market.

Saba Atefyekta

Saba is the Sales Director and Co-founder of Amferia.  She comes from a interdisciplinary background of materials science and microbiology with a passion for translating basic science into good products for healthcare. 

Ray Butler

Ray is a very successful entrepreneur and a businessman as well as a keen yachtsman (he has sailed the Atlantic twice!). Amferia benefits from Ray ‘s broad entrepreneur knowledge and expereince in business management and starting a business.

Ray is also keen on guiding young entrepreneurs on effective approaches towards decision making.

Björn comes from decades of experience in communication and PR in diverse sectors and is one of the Founding Partners of the leading Swedish communication firm, .
